Self-care is more than manicures and massages. It is a vital rung in the ladder of developing a healthy self-image. Improved mood, reduced anxiety, and a better relationship with yourself and others are just a few of the benefits to creating and implementing a self-care plan. Some may think self-care is selfish; in fact it is the opposite. When we know how to take care of ourselves, and actually walk that walk, we enter a place where we can better help our loved ones. It’s like when the flight attendant tells us to put on our oxygen mask first, we think, “No way. I need to help so and so.” In reality, if you don’t put your mask on first, you won’t be able to assist anyone else who may need help. Bottom line: hug yourself and start caring for YOU!
